The rarely spotted nap with Papa. It’s the SAHM’s idea of a vacation.

Welcome, Stay At Home Moms! Thanks for joining me today. Now that we have advanced from your basic how-to, we’re ready to advance to the next level of Stay At Home Momness. Here are a few of my favorite naptime activities, specially selected for those delightful naps lasting fewer than thirty minutes:

  • Take a nap. Sorry, couldn’t resist. I’ll get serious.
  • Unload/reload dishwasher but SILENTLY as this is known to wake baby.
  • Start/cycle laundry but see previous note.
  • If neither of the above tasks woke baby, check to ensure they are still breathing. This will end the nap.
  • Prepare food, but not eat it. Silly mom.
  • Attempt to shave legs without running water since shower is on other side of wall from crib. Whose idea was this?
  • Pin [number redacted] ideas for home decor/organization while studiously ignoring state of actual home.
  • Guiltily sweep half of house baby is not in.
  • Begin one task for work-from-home job. Begin again at next two naps, complete in ten hours when baby goes to bed for the night.
  • Watch part of a show at minimum volume, with subtitles.
  • Remove nail polish, but not repaint. OR, paint nails but not let them dry. You fool!
  • Cut half of bangs.
  • Talk on phone so quietly other party asks if you are OK.
  • Snuggle sweet sleeping baby in your arms just a little longer than absolutely necessary. Cherish these special moments. Kiss his little forehead. Set baby down in crib. Walk away. Congratulations, nap time is over.
  • Write blog post. Just kidding, these take me 2-3 days.
